Now with Armadale Activities run by the wonderful Matt Harrison, there’s loads to do like Tomahawks, Archery, Clay pigeon etc.
2. Raasay House Activities
On the Isle of Raasay near Sconser on the way up to Portree is the wonderful Raasay House. You take a small ferry to get there and they have a whole host of activities for the outdoor enthusiast. It is seasonal though so you should contact them first.
3. Dunvegan Castle and Gardens, and Colbost Croft Museum
Historic castle and gardens, the oldest in the world still lived in by the original family (Macleod). Seal boat trips, restaurant and shops. (9) 01470 521310. Also near Dunvegan in Colbost there is a folk museum of life in the 19th century and a replica of an illicit whisky still. (9) 01470 521296

5. Old Man of Storr
Rising out of the sea impressively to a height of 2358ft is the Storr and right in front of it is a pinnacle (‘Old man of Storr’). The 165ft rock has been a sea-marker for centuries and there is a lovely walk up to it North of Portree on the A855
6. Staffin and The Quiraing
Staffin is the place of upright Pillars – reputed to be one of the most beautiful bays in Skye. The Quiraing nearby or the ‘Round Fold’ or ‘Pen’ is a possibly one of the most exciting natural rock formations in the world. There is a lovely coastal walk to see these breathtaking sights. In Staffin there is also a dinosaur fossil museum.
